My name is Margie Vicknair-Pray and I have worked for politicians but never run for office. Believe me, you don't have to convince me about the corruption in the system. But we need a system, which is what government is, because anarchy just doesn't hold up unless you want to live in a wild west, fastest gun wins type of world. I don't. We need honest people to run for office. We need term limits so that politicians can't stay in place and build empires of corruption. We need to end paid lobbyists and imprison offenders. We need transparency and accountability from our elected officials and the bureaucracies around them. We need a government OF the people, BY the people (not corporations), and FOR the people. That phrase actually means something that seems to have been lost to us. Vote for good people - look for those who oppose fracking, are pro term-limits and pro-transparency, favoring oversight and audits. Look for candidates who think that developers need to prove that their proposed developments won't harm pre-existing homes and businesses. Look for candidates who don't have a quarter of a million dollars in their campaign war chests (guess where those $ came from?). And vote for me, because I am those things and I will be honest and I will represent the people of our parish.
